Extreme Dx vs Us General

I’m in the market for a 55-72” ish tool box. These 2 seem good for the money but I’ve never seen an extreme in person. They aren’t the only 2 I’m looking at but seem like good choices. I have a roll cart I primarily use so this box would be for less used tools. I would really like a deeper double bank but the depth is usually only available on premium models.
Ps I don’t have a menards near me or that would have been the choice

Probably a us general out of those 2 unless drawer latching big concern, us gen bit bigger and about 75lbs heavier plus bit cheaper and always got discount coupons to use .
One of best bang for buck 72" is the Masterforce, 24" depth and well designed drawer latching .

I think usable size would be about the same. Using the 72” both have about 19.5” deep drawers and if you count the extreme’s second long drawer as 2 that’s the same too. I’m a harbor freight fan but one of my holdbacks is the last time I ordered from them I never got a receipt or any kind of shipping information. Waited 3-4 weeks for a light. The extreme is $1435 all said and done. The us general is 1000 + 60 for tax and from what I’ve heard a little over 100 for delivery. $250 is nothing to sneeze at and the specs are very similar. I’ve heard great things about the higher line extreme boxes there’s not much information on these ones.
Another option is the us general 56 and a side locker when I run out of space. Or I can get a good deal on a kr1000 but I don’t know if the layout would work for me.

Hard call .
What got best layout for you and what drawer latch system you like best .
I not been super impressed with lower end extreme I seen .
Used Matco MAC or Snappy never a bad thing and your money parked with those .
The Better factory model 56" us gen on a coupon is value deal .
You really need make firm choices on layout and how much you want spend and choose based on that .
You got no option of picking up from local HF even if had rent a trailer ?

For my work space the 56 would actually be better. I have 2 stores both about 30 miles away and my shop does u haul rentals so a trailer would be easy to get. I really like the green and heard you have to order that color online though.
As far as used boxes I’m constantly looking for deals close by. I have my kids on days off and the wifey doesn’t like me taking them to meet sellers. I do have a lead on a kr1000 with a top box I should be able get for a good price. I don’t really like the layout but I would definitely have room to grow.

KR1000 is nice box and pretty popular. If price is right and condition good they good buy as plenty people like them so resale prices stay strong if market it well .
Main thing with boxes is be sure like drawer layout and size sensible to your needs .
Wise money always buys truck brand used .
I got over 25 feet of used Matco boxes in my shop that picked up over the years as expanded and saved me a fortune ...

I recently did a bunch of research and putting my hands on as many boxes as possible. Homak won our for me with the ProII, if I could’ve found a nice snap on for a decent price I would have went that route, the General didn’t really do it for me for the price

If I bought the snap on I don’t know if I’d want to use the top box or have a work surface. Thinking I could always sell the top box and locker to offset the cost. I like to stand my sockets up so I’m not a huge fan of the skinny drawers up top. If it’s cheap enough I could do some fab work and rearrange the drawers.
I’m debating what to do with my carts. I have a 5 drawer us general I’ve had for years and recently bought a matco jamestown 6 drawer. I use that as my stationary box because it’s a little big to move job to job. I’m thinking about bringing one home and possibly using my old plastic cart for quick things. If I keep the matco at work I can have all my sockets in there which would make it easier to live with the drawer layout issue. And it’s not going to lose any value.
I was looking at homak recently too but same as the extreme I’m iffy about something I can’t put my hands on first.

kr1000 possibly not box for you then .
I don't like sockets standing up so the 30" deep shallow drawers work for likes of me .
They really nice boxes but if drawer layout not your thing and you want worktop area not top box it may not be best buy unless incredible used deal not worth missing, you could sell the topbox I suppose .
56" US Gen likely better layout match to your needs .
The better factory 56 boxes are pretty decent buy for lowest coupon deals .

I was looking at that lower box and asked about it on here but didn’t get any replies. Northern tool had it for $720 Black Friday. One thing I read was the top drawer isn’t tall enough.

Yes top drawer is bit on low side for some deep sockets on peg stands .
They pretty nice boxes but price is pretty high and support via homak reported be a bit poor . 2 bays generally only have single slide top drawer and you need buy extra set of rails which pretty stingy penny pinching from Homak .
Homak could of done well but even when Napa dealing them it was sloppy slow effort get your box and pray it dent free .

All of my sockets are on Ernst rails and have plenty of room. No issues in height for me
That’s when I bought mine was around Black Friday paid 1100 for top and bottom
