Vise Grip Nut Wrench ... Poor QA
Just purchased the 4" version made by Irwin for $10. Suppose to go up to 14mm nut size.
A bit disappointed at the quality. The front tips of the jaws mates to each other just fine but they are not 90 degrees to the side face of the jaws ! That means if I grip a thin rod with the front of the jaws, the rod will not be perpendicular to the tool. The part of the jaw that grips the nut is fine. All 3 of the faces are perpendicular to the jaw face.
I'm going to check the other ones hanging on the rack to see if they are all like that. If not, I'll do a swap. If so, I'll have to check the other brand.
I undid a frozen lug nut with those pliers. It was the 7" version too!
A few yrs later I used the 10" straight jaws to do the same thing.
