Got an aluminum deckboat that I purchased and the previous owner managed to damage some of the aluminum rub rail.

I've tried searching online but couldn't find anything that matches. This is from a 98 Princecraft Vacanza which there doesn't seem to be a lot of these out there.

I've still got the damaged piece that's been cut off which is about a 1ft long and one end is still usable to get dimensions from.

Does anyone know where I could send a piece off to and have them copy it?

Here is a picture;

Probably a custom extrusion for the OEM. Having a piece made to match is probably gonna cost the same as the boat did.....

You may have done this already, but have you checked directly with Princecraft or an authorized dealer? http://www.princecraft.com/aluminum-boat/owners/FAQ.aspx#Question4

I actually haven't and only reason I haven't yet is because the rub rail by factory is actually 1 whole piece that goes from the back to the front and then to the back on the other side.
So that I'd image would be very pricey!

Edit: Well for S&G's, I emailed a local dealer just to see if they can quote me a price on it anyways.

Might be better to just replace all of the aluminum rub extrusions with a product that is readily available.

I would need something that can wrap around the front bow. This stuff isn't flexible so it would have to be a very similar shape to make it work.

cut a piece of wood, teak, cypress, etc. put two knerf cuts in the back to match the receiver and match it on the other side, or make a reflector that will go in that space. A lot of options other than the factory piece. Your imagination is the only limit. Mike

To have your piece copied requires a tool steel die to match the profile, an engineer to design the die, a wire edm to cut the shape out of a blank then heat treatment. You'll have more in the die than your boat, trailer and tow vehicle are worth and you haven't got it in an extrusion press yet to get a single piece ran when all extruders operate on volume, nobody could stay in business doing single piece runs.

Thanks, I never imaged it would cost so much. Guess I'll just try to find something else or maybe I'll get lucky and find one of these boat in a junk yard I can salvage from.

My brother in law is a vp at an extrusion plant. Very impressive operation. As mentioned earlier, it would be cheaper to buy a new boat than to have these pieces custom extruded.

Lots of that stuff is from Taco Metals but as noted it could be a custom to the brand of boat. I don't believe you can buy direct from them but they do list local dealers.

If you really want it in aluminum, get a machine shop to make it with CNC

Never thought about having a piece made from CNC. Thanks

Zick, I know you're in WI but try these people, they've been in business for years.

Sent them an email, thanks.

I've tried emailing a couple local dealers and even the manufacturer over a week ago, but never got any reply....will probably try and call them this week.

Ayuh,.... Why not just email Taco Metals yerself,...

There's even phone #s on the contact us page...

Or,... Try the "Where to buy it" page,...

Because Taco does not have anything that will work for me, I've looked through their entire line.

Plus after looking more closely at how this rail is on the boat, I don't think I can replace the entire thing with something else. Reason being is that the rail being a C-channel and how it wraps around the front of the boat it would be very difficult to use anything else.
There aren't many rails that are in a c-channel and most are under the 2" size that I need.
