Hey all well due to some unforseen circumstances I have pretty lost all my tools and am starting from scratch. Good news is that I bought a new to me 2009 F-150, that I plan on never having to take to get worked on. What would be a good midlevel tool list for doing most anything that would be need to done to it? Thanks

...as in your tools were stolen at a service garage? If so I don't believe I'd just leave it at that if you know it happened there. Or you "lost" them how?

I have a 2011 F150. So far I've needed nothing other than your typical metric sockets/wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

A few thoughts...

You'll need a 5.5mm nut driver (or socket) for lots of different trim panels... Not a super common size.

A trim panel tool also comes in handy, Ford also uses lots of those push-in fasteners

One last suggestion... If you want the factory service manuals as well as all the service bulletins, you can buy a 1-month subscription to www.motorcraftservice.com, single year, single vehicle, for $20. During that month you can download as many sections of the service manual (pdf files). It's a bit of a pain as the manual is broken up into tons of separate sections and sub-sections, so you have to work at it to download the entire service manual, but it can be done :) Wiring diagrams as well.

I moved away briefly and my stepbrother and his friends decided to allow all but a few junk items to sprout legs

+2 on F150online.com very good resource. I use to go there a lot for my 98 F150 and now visit occasionally for my 09 F150.

I'm signed up on pretty much F150 site out there. I've got an F-150 SuperCrew myself. I mostly hang out @ http://www.fordf150.net though...

How many miles on the truck depends on what you need to do, thus what tools you need. Make sure to do your regular maintenance stuff (fuel filter, coolant / ****** fluid flush, etc.).

best tool for an f150 is a for sale sign... :D

Boo...

My 2011 F150 FX4 EcoBoost SuperCrew is awsome. Great power, great interior, quiet, roomy, very good handling, and about half the cost of some of the other SUV's I was considering.

Recent drives have been a V8 Touareg (which I love) and a LR Discovery (which I also loved), but I barely drive the T-reg anymore.

Love the F150! So much better than what I expected from a domestic pickup.

Did I say I love the new EcoBoost twin-turbo direct injection gasoline engine?

I'm a mechanic. Last few years, i have been working on a lot of Ford trucks....they are generally just a lot harder to work on compared to a GM, or Dodge. I wont even get into the specific issues, but there are plenty..

I really like the technology of the ecoboost, but have not had to work on one yet
