Started about 2 weeks ago, I get this 'fatal error' message about not enough memory to post pics. Sometimes it posts one, but usually none. Have changed nothing with my computer and using the same camera and settings as always.

I emailed the board and got no response. What is going on? This is going to force me to join a new forum and i don't want to.

help:sad:

Maybe Try Reducing the size of the photos, the file size might be too much.

Also a mod may want to move this to the appropriate forum.

Just use a Hosting site, Photobucket is a Free and Stupid Simple. Its been so long since i tried uploading pictures via the forum tool, I cant even recall exactly how to do it, But i do recall having to reduce the size/Quality of some of them, Otherwise the System would deny them.

I do not agree with this. If you host photos on a 3rd party website, they inevitably disappear. It ***** in the future when you look up a thread and the pics are gone because they've been deleted from a photobucket account.

Attaching photos still work for me. I resize them so they're an appropriate size.

Obviously if you delete them from your Photobucket account, There no longer gonna be Hosted... Ive Never had Photobucket delete any of my Pictures, With that said.. The Free space allotted for the Free account is substantial. There is Nothing Wrong with Uploading them to the Site, I did it when i first joined, Although It does limit the Size/detail of your pictures.

I use a smaller screen setting than some of the Members when i resize my pictures, That way it doesnt distort the actual forum.

I agree with this. I'm relatively new, and have gone through the whole toolbox thread. It was a little frustrating to see all the "moved or deleted" messages, then read a few posts later references to the missing pics.

I've noticed this problem with this site also. I used to upload right to the site because unlike other forums this sites photo upload was really nice and easy. It would auto resize for you, quick and easy. But I think when they switched servers a couple weeks ago something changed with the photo upload, or maybe had nothing to do with the server and just changed. Gave up trying to upload threw this site and just use photobucket.

The problem isn't deleting them it's if you move pictures around at all the links to them won't work anymore. I see lots of threads that have a ton of great info but all the pictures are missing and says something like "this photobucket user has moved or deleted this picture" or something like that.

Of course I was exaggerating when I said "it's inevitable," but it is a common problem when you see a thread with the broken links and a message saying "the photo has been moved or deleted" or something similar. But some services don't even post a message when the photo disappears, so there's just a blank space where it used to be.

Are you claiming you haven't seen that message? I'm sure you have.

Here's a couple pics I found after just a little searching.

Stephen, how do you resize? When I attach using this site, they show up as thumb nails, but I would like them to be full size without clicking on them. Details please.

There was another thread similar to this awhile back...my last post in it was on March 28th...I never heard from anyone higher up as to what might be causing my issue with posting photos.

I still cannot post photos and I've been through a myriad of resizings, etc. etc. etc. It was always so much easier to directly upload as opposed to needing a photo hosting site & all that jazz that goes along with it.

I'm hoping Ryan or Mods will chime in and give answer on how to load photos, I'm thinking they've got to be a lot smaller file now. I've tried to load phtos that I've previously posted and it won't work.

One post above your post; after you do step 5, Paste it into the image Icon, pop up just as you would with a hosted photo.

I crop and resize using MS Office picture manager... :dunno:

Works for me...

Never lost any pics from my Photobucket account & like others, have yrs of pics stored there. I don't move them so it's rarely a problem. I can post them on various other forums too.
Some forums delete pics from their own server after their a certain age so some of those dead links may or may not be a hosting site. Pics posted from sites like Ebay or Craigslist only post for a short time.

I've been having the same trouble also for the last little while. Most of the pics I try to post fail or show the "fatal error" message even after many attempts to re size or shrink them. This even happens with pics I've posted before with no problem. Been going on for a while now. It *****.

If you use tinypic.com to host my pics. It never deletes and you don't have an account so no limitation on space and you cant delete it even if you want to. I have pics I hosted on their site from over 10 years ago and still show in old posts on other forums. They do limit the size of the image but it has to be much bigger than an image you would want to view in a thread to exceed the size limitation.

This is a better solution to me than photobucket or any of the other sites that require a user account and you dont have to worry about the forum error...

OK so let's look at root cause:

What OS/ (version and patch level)

What Browser? (Version)

Have you tried clearing cookies?

Do you have Cookies blocked?

What about Java?

FYI; I'm on XP, current security patch set, and have been using Mozilla Firefox 20.0.1 (Current)

I can't download any pics at all anymore. All I get is "upload failed" or "fatal error" messages. This feature used to work just fine. I'm using the same computer and same crappy camera. Why aren't any mods or admin weighing in on this?

You get this error when the file uploaded is too large in file size. However, I am going to try to up the limit a bit very soon. Sorry for the issues.

Yeah, but if you use a hosting site, leave them up there.
It annoys me to no end, even less than a year later to see the empty photo area"Sorry, this poster has deleted this picture"
BTY, I never had any trouble hosting here. Just saying.
