F trim for soffit with built in J Channel

I am having a contractor do the soffits and fascia on my pole building this weekend. The building will have vinyl siding within the next few months. I was wanting to do the f-channel for the soffit to sit in then just but my j-channel against that. The contractor recommended useing an "F-J channel". I never heard of this. Is it common to use this when doing vinyl siding? That way the J is already there for the siding? The only thing I don't like is the fact that I'm not sure on my siding color. I am debating if I just got the white F-J trim if it would look alright with whatever color siding I get. Thanks for any advice.

It's f channel not f-j channel. It functions like two j channels back to back and yes it's correct. It would be better than a seperate j channel latter.

I think it will look fine whatever your soffits are as its adjacent.

Ok thanks. Is there any way you can post a picture or link to what it looks like? When I look up f channel all I find is what's pictured in my attachment.

I was completely wrong. All these years I go to the lumber yard and ask for F and they been getting me F&J.

Ok, thanks. I think I'll go with that in white to match my soffits. Do you usually get it in metal since my soffits and fascia will be metal?

I'd recommend the vinyl because its more flexible. I think you still have to put the "utility channel" inside the bottom J so the last/top piece of 4-4 siding can be punched for the "hooks" that allow it to snap in place.

On the eave-sides of the building (all horizontal) I went with metal fascia, vinyl soffit in punched and non-punched versions, a vinyl "F" installed upside down to receive the vinyl soffit, and then the utility channel butted underneath that.

On the gable-ends of the building (taper up) I did nearly the same but used J-channel under the inverted "F" because those pieces of siding hang from the screws and there's no "clip" action.

Well soffit and fascia is done. I used J Channel inverterted to accept the soffit. I went with vinyl soffit and aluminum fascia. Turned out pretty good.

Wishing I could find F-J locally down here.
Building material choices are not what they were up in Michigan, I have to drive over an hour just to get 6" aluminum fascia.

That *****. About 1 mile from my house is a carter lumber. They stock 4" and 6" fascia. Was nice didn't have to bend it all.

Yeah, even in Warren Ohio the selection was good.
We had a Carter, new Menards along with Lowes and HD.
Oh well, wife is happy we won't have to shovel snow now.

Shoot, come to think of it our carter would sell you an entire split HVAC system over the counter!
