I mean meh I can do that I just choose not to brag about it. :)

After seeing his tungsten I think I'm not sharpening mine enough. I've always been told to ball it on the end and not leave it sharp. I think I must change my ways.

I just shared the video of the guy actually doing those welds and his back and forth motion, rolling on the cup.. Weird technique I have never seen before. I guess it is popular amongst pipe welders. Not sure how to get he vid from fb to here but I will try.

Ball for aluminum. Sharp as you can get it for mild steel.

It would appear he has a tungsten pointer, I don't think that is hand-ground. A pencil-sharp tip does not hurt anything, you need that for fine detail/thin work anyway. It just won't last as long if you get to standing on the pedal.

The "walking the cup" motion may also be aided by a "weld positioner" which is a slow-mo rotational device so you don't have to stop work like the rest of us mortals to manually shift the workpiece.

That said he obviously has spent a lot of time perfecting his skills.

I'm just happy when I can see the weld puddle.

My hands are simply not that steady to do even one inch of that kind of weld even if I could see the puddle as well as I would like. BIG time skill.
