Those motors are designed more toward torque than horsepower which is where your going with 5000 rpm. Taking it past that is just spinning it for very little reward. I guess you could raise it, but I just don't see it helping you a whole lot. I generally just leave mine drive and let the trans do the work. I also have a upgraded valvebody and a programmer to support the other mods. If you want more out of it, it'll take a tuner and running premium gas all the time.

My understanding of the towing issue is that it is perfectly fine to tow OD. The issue begins when the transmission must shift up and down often. If you find this or think this will happen (hills upcoming, even small ones, they are worse) then it is time to shut the OD off until you are reletively flat again.

It is the repeated up/down shifting that is the problem, not running in 4th gear.

I can't afford the gas to get to 5000rpm. 2200 max and I drive 10k over. And my coffee cup doesn't have a lid on it.
