So since i've only been welding since New Years I needed a cart for my MIG & C25 bottle and a welding table since welding on concrete or plywood on sawhorse's gets old fast. So I decided to build these projects, I was looking at the carts from Princess Auto (Canadian version of HF) that were on sale for $40 and i thought they were awfully flimsy and building one would be more fun and a lot stronger.


So i used 2" square tube to make the frame.


I had left over casters from my tool boxes that i built into the bench so i welded those on.


So I used dolly cart tires for the rear, and i had to make a axle with drop brackets.

I was rolling around on this like it was a skateboard.

For the handle i took a old tool box handle and cut 5 inches out of it and re welded it.



Welded on the up rights and gussets.



Finished cart with and with out welder, I still haven't chose what colour I'm going to paint it yet.

So for the table its going to be a 30" x 48" with receivers and a built in tool box.


Tacking up the ends.


After checking how square it is i started to weld the ends up.


Welding on base plates for the casters.


Tacking on the cross pieces for the frame.


Before welding up the frame i checked if the tool box would fit which it did but had no room for error.

So since the casters are rubber if you were hammering on the table it would bounce so i had to ad adjuster legs to it. the brackets are 2" flat stock 1/4" thick with 3/4" all thread for the adjusters them self.

I'm wiring the table up for electrical boxes so i ran 12/2 armored wire through the 2" tubing.


I attached the boxes and made a bracket to wrap up the 25ft 12/3 extension chord.


Completed frame.


I picked up the 30"x48" 1/2" plate top and laid out and center punched for drilling for strong hand build pro clamps.

To drill all the holes I rented a Mag drill.


I only rented the drill for a day but drilling all those holes were taking for ever so i returned it and drilled the rest of the holes with the drill press.


Finished drilling all 77 holes.


Moving the heavy plate by yourself was really hard so i ended up using are cable hoist in the ceiling.

I countersunk 6 3/8" flat socket cap screws to hold the plate down.


Since i haven't chosen what colour its going to paint it so i decided to assemble it to be able to clean up the shop.
