F80 ratchet different feel

I compare the F80 (also F72) about I got 3 years back they emit a crisp, clicking feel sound.

I bought another one (the long version) just now that is barely used and it is more of a dull and plastic sound, It is like new and barely used. I counted all the teeth. Do you think maybe the factory changed the lube formation at some point maybe the seller changed the lube himself, but I am really guessing here. Just wanted to ask if anyone noticed different feels between different years / batches

Not sure where any of these are made, they all don't say USA

Why not open it up and re-lube it? Snap-on ratchets are the easiest to work on. Pull two screws and the plate is off. Get you a tube of SuperLube at Harbor Freight. As far as where it's made, it was made at the Elisabethton factory in Tennessee.

I heard if no USA stamp the Dual 80's were then made in China or India.

My non-stamped Dual 80 had Made in India on the packaging. Or was it made in Indiana.
Wait-it didn't come in a clamshell package or box.
Hehehehehe.

Pull screws and plate. Check lube. Clean screws and dab with blue loctite. Re-assemble.

No plastic bits inside.

Dual 80's are Dual 80's.

Use and be happy or sell off and buy a replacement that you like.

It is what it is.

It takes them a while to 'break in'. They're a little stiff to begin with.

Has nothing to do with any manufacturing conspiracy. I've noticed it too. After a week or two of regular use, they all feel the same.

The difference in feel is caused by the amount of lube on the gear. I think the lube should be mainly on the inside face of the body. Lube on the teeth makes the tool feel softer and sound quieter.

The F80 ratchet whether marked USA or not has always been made in Elisabethton Tennessee.

I just got me and f80 the other day using my SEP discount...I love how quiet it is compared to any of my craftsman the raised handles or the low profiles I have...I don't think I ever want another ratchet. Mine says usa on the handle next to the part number so I assume it is one of the newer ones.
