Can the pivot pin in a Snap-On F831 ratchet be replaced at home? Or does it need to be taken to a truck or sent in? Be gentle, new to the forums.

That doesn't have the flex pivot pin or am I missing something? Thanks for the reply.

That's the joint, except my F 831 has a pin, instead of a bolt like that one.

I'd press that pin out, mic the dimentions of the pin and the bores of the ratchet. Then search for a pin from McMaster Carr or a similar place. Maybe Snap On sells those pins too?

It may be the washer, removing the pin is a pain without a press. But you can try, and just bend the washer back out. Or you call SO they will send you a free kit with a new pin and washer. Sometimes the hole for the bin gets wobbled out, if this is the case, turn the rat back in for a new one.

If the ratchet head is worn oblong, the pin won't stay in, the Dealer replaced mine because of this with the newer FLF80

No I haven’t called Snap-on yet, most likely will hunt the truck down and see if he can fix or replace it.
Thanks for all of the replies.
