So I've got one of those cheap pull behind agri-fab fertilizer spreaders for the yard seed and fertilizer. The plastic gear box shot craps and started slipping. Was gonna throw it away, but had an idea to get rid of the gearbox and use a 12v motor instead.
I just threw away a shureflow pump (motor good, pump bad), so I dug it out of the trash. Welded a longer rod to the spinner shaft so that I could mount the motor on top. Took me about an hour, and works better than before.
There is no need for the little agitator either, because the shaft isn't aligned perfect (not planned, lol), so it vibrates to shake down the fertilizer and grass seed.
I coupled the motor to the shaft with some 3/8" air line and some hose clamps.
