Face Shield

A face shield is something I could use but keep putting off on getting. I could use it for grinding metal and for operating the weedeater.

Safety glasses are great but don't protect the face especially when running the weedeater. I think I've narrowed it down to the NoCry and the Fibre-Metal. Which face shield brand do you guys use?

no help on preferred brand, but for lawn trimming, I think you'd be happier with the mesh type sheilds made for that purpose since the clear lens will get splattered with **** real fast

^Yeah, that! The screen ones don't fog up, either. If you want to feel like a pro, get a hardhat that mounts the face shield and ear muffs. Stihl sells a good one.

Solid for grinding, 'though. You'll be much happier not getting your face covered with crud--in addition to better protection.

Just checked and my grinding shield is 3M. $$, but much heavier-duty than most. Having had an exploding cut-off wheel from a die grinder penetrate a face shield completely once, I feel better with the thicker job.

When I finally trash my 3M, I'm replacing it with one of those. If, that is, I live long enough. The 3M is a tank.

The Uvex replacement lenses are actually cheaper than the 3M.

It was always Fibre metal or north at work.

Agree on the mesh, either glasses or full chainsaw helmets for trimmer

Another vote for the Uvex Bionic. The surround is really nice as it adds rigidity to the lens, and the head portion is high quality. Of course it's not exactly a bargain, but it should last you forever for normal home use.

As far as weedeating, I've been hit in the lip before by a small rock. DAMN did that hurt. That would've broken a tooth or put out an eye for sure. I was lucky I only got a small cut and a fat lip.

But of these three the Lincoln electric fits and feels the best on me. Bionic a pretty close second. And though I got them real cheap through a garage journal amazon specials the sellstroms are barely usable due to being uncomfortable.

I've found that the solid face shield I use stops me from smelling the cut grass/weeds etc. Which is a bonus since I don't like that odor. I've never tried the mesh type.

I have the Jackson for my grinding hemet. It's as comfortable as my 3350 welding helmet. I suppose it would work fine for the yard. $30 on Amazon.

i wish they make a mask that built into your safety galsses, a covid type so I have protection around the other workers, you notice how the latin workers wear face covering all day, maybe a minin mash that hung off safety glasses, it work with grinding, wood working or convient store

I know it's not what you're looking for but if you do alot of grinding/welding/painting/demoing you may want to look into a fresh air delivery respirator to protect your eyes, face and lungs. I made a DIY version of this system and saved a few hundred $$$. Don't use it as often as I should but it works great. I used 3M mask and hose, a GAST rotary pump and the Allegro filters.
