26x40x12 pole barn already has blown in celloulse in attic. location is Norwest Indiana. eventually will have Mr heater style furnace. I can get 8'wide r19 unfaced or white vinyl backed rolls. any thoughts on which is preferred? if unfaced is used i assume a 6 mil vapor barrier is needed anyway.

I can get 93“x50‘ vinyl backed. 400 sq ft for $456.
or 93”x55’ unfaced 440 sq ft for $359.

seems very few places stock the 4 ft or 8 ft widths.

Probably 6 cents a square foot for poly. Rough math says you'll save $350ish if you get unfaced plus poly, guess it depends on what the added time and effort to hang the poly is worth to you. That savings doesn't factor in any waste that may come from the difference in roll sizes, so the savings could be more or less than that.

I'd buy faced

I would guess it's 93" because that is probably the distance between the posts if on 8' center.

Can you take a measurement and see if that is correct?

Yes. The 8’ bays use a 93 inch battt. Most places stock for 16” or24” on center. Need a specialty building supplier to stock the wide stuff

Menards has 4' faced but you will probably have to order it.

The only real advantage to faced is the side tabs make it easier to fasten in place. Faced or unfaced, you'll still want a VB.
