Hello, recently i bought FACOM RS.440E set.
I would like to know if the 1/2 ratchet has the required torque to get wheel nuts off a car? Or its better to use a wheel tyre wrench?

Thank you

Is this a breaker bar vs ratchet question?

The ratchet would most likely be strong enough but standard length 1/2" ratchets are too short to break wheel nuts. Get a 24" breaker bar and a torque wrench to properly tighten again.

I have that same ratchet and while it should be plenty strong, I agree that it's to short to be comfortable. I got one of these and it's awesome...

Facom makes breaker bars as well...

Thank you all for your replies. I was most worried if socket could break, but from your answers most probably could be ok :)
I will try first and is is too uncomfortable i will buy a separate wrench.
@M6erfan, thank you for your recomendation, unfortunatly i am from Europe (Greece) and it is a bit a diffucult to get USA tools. I can see the handle is metal... Won;t be slippery?

Something like this?

Not bad, also seems to be in a reasonable price.

I was looking also to this tool from hazet:
http://www.mytoolstore.de/hazet-ausziehbarer-radmuttern-schluessel-12-zoll-772-p-31245.html

And one more question. I saw torque ratchet up to 120Nm. Is it enough for tigheting the wheel? I checked the service manual of my car and states 110Nm is needed.

I think you mean ratchet. The socket should be ok. The ratchet is so short, that you will end up having to really lean/push/pull on it or possibly step/jump on it depending how tight the lugs are. Stuff like that risks damaging the ratchet. That's why the breaker bar is the preferred tool of use. It is longer for more torque and with less moving parts, stronger.

I will try first and is is too uncomfortable i will buy a separate wrench.

Koken tools are made in Japan, so they may not be that hard to get. I'm not sure. The handles are really only slippery when covered in oil.

Actually I have the wrong pic in my previous post, the handle on mine is knurled so not slippery at all, very comfortable.

Here is the one I have...

As Doc said above, Koken is a Japanese company so it may be available to you

I always just use a T-handle like this and sometimes use a cheater bar on it:

Seeing that KoKen breaker bar and the Hazet extendable (never seen that one before, should be super strong) however, I think I know what to ask for my upcoming birthday :)

I think most wheel lugs would be below 120 Nm, but most torque wrenches I see here are good up to 200 Nm. 40-200 Nm seems like a workable and very common range. Don't forget that torque wrenches become less accurate near their outer limits, not that this would really make a difference on wheel nuts..
