Bought a set of these wrenches a couple of months ago. Love 'em.

Review: http://toolguyd.com/facom-440-combination-wrench-review/

I'm not yet a Facom fanatic, but I'm certainly a fan.

They're a little on the short side, and the box end is a little thick (but this is a consequence of a good feature), so not everyone will like them.

Every aspect of these wrenches is a little unusual, but they also contribute to an overall stellar tool design.

What do you think - goofy, or modern?

I love the looks of those.
Eventually I'll probably get a set.

There seems to be conflicting info on the COO though. I thought they were made in Taiwan by Tuptul, but then there have been a few reports of them showing up with the packaging marked Made in France.

Ultimate Garage's Facom Inventory list seems to mark some sizes as COO Taiwan, and others as France. Example: 440.14 (14mm) is Taiwan, and the 440.15 (15mm) is France.

I have the mac labeled ones. Pretty dang nice. Although i wish the case was a little slimmer. the 14 piece mac set is pretty big. I bought it for my portable toolbox.

I have 5 of them in large metric sizes, up to 34mm, only very limited use so far as they are fairly new and I don't need the big sizes much, but they seem to be great quality and are comfortable in use. I like them.

Not actually made by Rotar. The Taiwanese Facom 440 wrenches were made by another manufacturer. Someone posted a pic in the "Tools from the old world" thread of an unfinished USAG wrench forging. USAG is owned by Facom/Stanley and uses the same design for some of their wrenches as the Facom 440s. The manufacturer is called Te Wei.

The original Facom 440s were made in Taiwan, but some of the later production was moved to France.

This is were the manufacturer was mentioned.

I thought that fan is short for fanatic.

I bought a couple of Protos as well. To be honest, I like the Facoms better. I had to send 2 Protos back b/c of really sharp burs. And there are times when I prefer manual wrenches vs. ratcheting, especially when I need a thin-walled box end.

Smaller does not bother me. What do you base the "soft" on?

The Mac are rebranded Facom.....correct? So they are the same?

Warranty?

This is based a shop I worked at.The shop had a few sets of combination wrenches and the Facoms were the newest and also in worst condition.Metal quality is not as good as German stuff but that is to be expected, the Facoms are cheaper.
