Where can i find Facom palm-control ratchets in the U.S.? I'm interested in the long-handled 3/8 drive non-flex model. thanx, john

If I'm not mistaken, the SK Palm Control ratchet is basically the same thing correct? As they put that in their model line up when they were owned by Facom. Sears has them for sale online and I think www.thetoolwarehouse.net sells them as well.

i just found a place named the Ultimate Garage which handles Facom - it didn't come up when i did my previous search - they mention that they lube the ratchets before they ship them to their American customers

I picked up a long reach facom palm control 1/2 inch drive about 3 weeks ago off ebay for like 28 bucks plus shipping keep checking occasionally they pop up at pretty good prices

You can no longer call SK Tools for Facom Tools in Mc Cook, ILL. They address on Facoms web site is way out of date. You must call Stanley Proto Tools in Ga. I think it is 1-800-800-TOOL. They will tell you what they stock in the US and what they don't. They also send you too Ultimate Garage.

They have a very smooth ratcheting action and there very strong! If I'm not mistaken and someone correct me if I'm wrong but 17 teeth engage at one time when you apply pressure in either direction.

I could check later for you.. I don't know how many teeth engage at a time. What I do know is that the ratcheting action is very fine and that I haven't broken a Facom tool. This, of cours, only applies to pre-Stanley Facom tools...

As well as the quality and strength of their ratchets, I find the palm control system, whereby you can hold a collar around the head of the ratchet without affecting the reversing switch, very user-friendly. They also have much lower reverse torque than any other ratchet I've used.

There is no discernible difference between the internal components of pre and post Stanley palm control ratchets and they're still made in the same factory. Loath though I am to admit it, their takeover doesn't seem to have had negative effects.

The one negative effect I've noticed is decreased product availability here. Pre Stanley, you could find Facom tools online at numerous vendors now, you are limited to one plus a few Mac branded ratchets. Perhaps this will improve but, it's as if the brand died, and you can only find left overs on Ebay and similiar close out places.

That's a shame, presumably there'd be too much competition with other bits of the Stanley empire

The Facom brand ratchets are the only ones that will come through with the rubber handles. I have all of the popular 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" drive (including the S.171) ratchets in stock.

I do inspect each before they go out for slippage due to the grease between the ratchet and pawl hardening. Any fine tooth ratchet, Facom or otherwise, will be sensitive to this sort of thing.
