Fahrenheat fuh54

Hi all, I have a Fahrenheat fuh54 garage heater that I want to hook up an external thermostat to. My question is can I use a Honeywell Programmable thermostat to do this? And if so can I get some directions. I appreciate any feedback thank you.y

It depends on how handy you are with electrical equipment...I looked at the installation manual and it doesn't show provisions for an external thermostat, but it should just be a matter of disconnecting that and reconnecting the wires to the external thermostat of your choice. Note that the thermostat will need to be rated for line voltage, as it is connected directly in line with one of the hot legs to the heater.

Doesn't it have an internal t-stat? I would bet it is designed to have the fan run for a bit after shutting down the heating element. Hooking it up to an external tstat will diaable that if so

It comes standard with a built in thermostat, but according to the wiring diagram in the owner's manual it's just a single set of contacts in one of the hot legs.
