I went over to my neighbors to ask to borrow his "big" tube/pipe cutter so I could cut open the filter on one of my motors - maybe the second time in a year+ Ive asked to use it. He said sure as always when I ask to borrow something - same with him and it seems the only thing we both have is a hammer and duct tape.

Anyway he asked if I would "help" replace 1 receptacle and 1 2 way switch. Flip a breaker, couple turns on the screwdriver, a cold beer and all is done. Not really something anyone needs to help someone else do but anything for an old(both figuratively and litterally) friend.

my payment, aside from the cold beer, which would have been perfectly fine with me as payment, I get this....

Maybe he was just glad for the help, and a good neighbor, and thought you could use it more than him. Seems like a good deal , if all parties were happy.

Funny you should mention cutting oil filters... Back when I was building racecars we had a kid who liked to help out in the shop just to be around the car. So I told him to cut open the old filter so we could have a look. He comes running in a few minutes later telling me it's full of metal shavings and we need to tear down the motor. I asked him what he used to cut the filter & he told me a hacksaw.... :lol_hitti
