I saw a post with a guy wanting to trade his older (probably 90’s) mac 1080 for a service cart and have been looking to upgrade from my jsc770. It looks pretty rough which I don’t really mind as long as everything is functional. Mine is only 3 or 4 years old and in pretty good shape. I like the idea of a trade so I don’t have to deal with a bunch of low ballers. It would also avoid the logistics of either carrying the cost of the new one till I sell mine or selling first and having to store my tools until I find something to buy. For some reason it’s telling me to log in to post a picture or I would.

It depends. If that's what you really want to go with this deal to save time, then go for it. I personally would not get rid of my service cart if I ever got around to buying a big box. If I can find a used Mac 1080 or comparable box locally for less than $1000 easily, I'd be more inclined to go find one instead of trade as long as the cart is easy to sell and has less depreciation.

I bought it to use as a service cart but it’s too big to get around so I use my old harbor freight cart and that one is stationary. I really don’t want to get rid of it and made some room with a locker for my specialty tools. One thing I’ve been thinking about is getting a smaller full drawer like a krsc326, sunex or homak and get rid of the harbor freight one. I ran that by a buddy and he suggested I bite the bullet and get my forever box. I’ve honestly never worked with anybody else that worked out of a cart so people don’t really get it but being able to easily move my everyday tools across the shop and getting a job done without all the back and forth makes sense to me. I guess it’s obvious my mind isn’t made up on this.

I thought the Mac 1080 was going to be a tech series. As for the cart, even if it is 40", as long as the shop floor is in good shape, there aren't any ramps you have to roll up, and there is room to maneuver, you should be fine.

The room to maneuver thing is the problem with a 40” cart. Other places I’ve worked it would be perfect. Also I hadn’t seen a select series triple and assumed it was a 1080. Either way I’m not in any rush and I kinda enjoy the search
