I recently made a deal for basically a whole trailer load of lista boxes. The seller has a Fairbanks Ward bench top mill that he wants to sell also. I don't know anything about it and figured it maybe a good starter mill. Can anyone give me feedback and possibly a value. He wants to keep the drill chuck out of it, but has some other stuff that goes with it, I'm not 100% certain on the rest of the stuff. It was in a box behind the machine.

So, value, feedback, parts availability. 99c08d656d7fe341cf4327a68d215cca.jpgc06b4b7474c547d106a3872d1c1b0bf6.jpg

Pretty much the same as every round column mill drill out there, Speedway, Grizzly, Harbor Freight, Rong Fu, Jet, etc etc etc. Things you WANT, be sure it is R-8 Taper not Morse, be sure you have the drawbar or can get one (Grizzly Parts will fit perfectly) Get a linkbelt to minimize vibration, I put a 3Ph 2 hp motor on mine with a VFD to run it, no more moving belts! True Variable Speed. A good set of R-8 Collets and some appropriate mills a Drill chuck is plenty easy to obtain. Price? Used, and knowing what I know about them I would not pay more than about $250...

Value would vary by region. At $250, it'd probably sell within hours on my local craigslist.

Before buying any Grizzly or other brand parts, make sure you're comparing apples to apples... there are more than one "pattern" of those round column mill/drills... some are bigger than others. Some parts may interchange, some may not.
