Fairmount Tool Wrenches

I have a bunch of Fairmount wrenches [box, open end and combo's] that were passed down from my step dad. I've never seen anything mentioned on this board about them and was wondering if they are that undesireable.

Pretty good wrenches, Fairmont was bought up by Martin but still produces tools under the Martin name.

Yeah and those Martin wrenches are freakin expensive.

Martin makes nice stuff and can be bought through Sears, or at least their catalog. Check out page # 62 in the 2009-2010 tool catalog.

If my memory is still working Fairmont were made in Cleveland,Ohio. They are very good tools do not believe in what you are hearing they are very nice tools and people collect them.

people talk about Martin quite often but Fairmont name just kind of died out when Martin took over and moved the company so when you see a Fairmont tool you are just now looking at a Martin tool.

Here's a Fairmount I ran across today, it's an odd size, 3/4" x 1/2", must be for some specific application. The 3/4" side is very clear the lighting in the picture was bad.

Picked up a 20oz Fairmont ball-pein today for $5. Hit the handle with the DA when I got it home & it's now sitting upright in a vice while the Spar varnish dries overnight. It will get another coat tomorrow evening & then be consigned to the toolbox for work duty on Wednesday

Thanks for the info guys.
I was going to off them at a garage sale next spring. Maybe I'll keep them now.
My step dad worked in Fairmount's foundry on his off days from the fire department during the 50's. He also had a bunch of different Fairmount body hammers that disappeared before he died. Wish I had those.

Some Fairmount tools are quite collectable.
As long as I know, the ones marked Fairmount Cleveland are of prewar manufacture.
Fairmount was among the suppliers of tools to the Government in WW II, and also supplied tools for the Willys jeep toolkit in war time.
I have never seen a Fairmount screwdriver, but Fairmount was mentioned as possible supplier of screwdrivers in a Willys Overland drawing: I sure would like to see one.
I do own ball peen hammers, open end wrenches, adjustable auto wrenches, pliers, all made by Fairmount in war time.
