You did?
Ok, give....who was nice and who was a jerk? Enquiring minds (nosy people) wanna know!
Well, I didn't really get involved with the "Talent" much and I'm not a sports fan, so there were probably famous people there I didn't realize were famous. Most everyone blended in and didn't seem to have any "I'm famous" mentalities.
That being said, there are some that stood out. Bill Ripkin was a great person. Not much more needs to be said than that. Eric Byrnes was very down to earth, a really nice guy. He'd show up in sweats or casual clothes, but always was dressed sharp by airtime. Brian Kenney seemed nice. Always said "Hello" even though he probably had no idea who I was. Mad Dog Russo was never there. He shot his show from NYC. Lauren Shahadi seemed pretty nice, I didn't pick up on an attitude, but I heard she was shallow and could be a little snippy. Not my experience.
I re-met Art Shamsky at the Draft. He actually remebered me from when we met in '85. He used to own a bar in New City. After he sold it, I worked there in the 80's. When I met him I had no idea who he was. He was just introduced to me as "Art, the old owner". It wasn't until he approched me at the Draft and introduced himself that my memory got jogged and I made the mental connection.
All the "regular" employess were pretty cool. My boss was sometimes a jerk on the professional level, but he actually cared about us. He was short with people, gruff, almost condescending. He was ETREMEMLY knowledgeable and he pretty much was the best at what he did, so I guess that gave him some license to be a little short tempered and narrowly focused. I never worked with anyone that knew more about their line of work than he did.
