Is there a such thing as these floating around? The reason i ask is this... I have a tool that scans Craigslist ever 5-10 min, and looks for certain searches. eg: Snap on, but excludes all "box" (as I'm not looking for a box). I've seen SOOOOOO many cordless snap on impacts on CL the last 3 weeks. Seems ever 3rd-4th post is a BRAND NEW never used cordles Snap pn impact. Seems fishy to me.

Five finger discount by a factory employee, or possibly "lost freight"? I see a lot of DeWalt battery tools in my area that seem fishy, as they are new.

If they're fake, they are damned good copies.

I don't keep up with Snap-On's new product introductions. Could these be either a new item that someone has bought and is hoping to sell at a big markup since it's brand new and hard to get? Or maybe it's the previous version and a new one is about to or has just come out?

Do be careful. It is unlawful to buy stolen merchandise and some of those sales could be setup to try and catch people who fence stolen stuff... If it is way too good a deal, then it probably is...

the "CE" mark on that second link appears to really be the Chinese "china export " mark.

http://www.qualityinspection.org/chinese-manufacturers-certificates/

That fake mark, is a dead give away to me that this is something to avoid. I would expect that SnapOn's true products would meet European standards.

I think the CE mark looks OK... It's similar to the mark on the same wrench from other sites.

That and why fake a CE mark with a China Export mark when there is a UL mark on the same label?

its unlawful if you knowingly buy stolen property. I know snapon stuff is normally overpriced but in that add, is 1000 bucks way cheaper then new?
" some of those sales could be setup to try and catch people who fence stolen stuff" um what? how would selling it set up people who fence stolen items? it would ketch people trying to get a deal

Plenty of fake out there as we deal with that here in the Middle East...Dewalt, Snap-On, Milwaulkee, etc...can buy them all day long here and it looks the same as far as packaging and but does not perform or last near as long.

Homeland Security and anti-counterfeiting organizations are cracking down on phony items that steal the hard-won good will of reputable band names. But for the first time these crusaders have decided to target the consumer. If they have their way, consumers who knowingly buy bogus items could face fines or even prison time. Visit us for more info.

Interesting first post.

Slightly off topic, however, relevant to a number of folks... There has been a huge increase in off-shore knockoffs/counterfits in automotive parts. MSD ignition products, ARP bolting are prime examples. These crooks focus on big ticket items like the ignition boxes. It is very difficult to tell real from fake without dissassembly. As far as the bolting material from ARP, it is damn near impossible to discern the real from the fake unless you are very familiar with the real thing. The first sign of the imposter is hwen you throw a rod or spin the bearings in your new, high-buck motor.

Translation...we should be buying from reputable sources such as Summit & Jegs?
