I've never seen NGK plugs made anywhere other than Japan.

NGK has an assembly plant her and the plugs will made assembled in USA of Japanese parts. NGK also has plants around the world for those markets like Thailand etc.

I usually buy those parts from local auto parts stores, because you pay more on shipping and handling for small items.

but good to know, I didn't know about the fake NGK's.

Unfortunately, ebay is full of counterfeit products. It's best to buy from an auto parts store.

I would have said the same thing as you, had I not changed the plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor on a 2002 Pathfinder the other day. I was quite surprised to see the phrase "made in the USA from Japanese components" on the OEM Nissan boxes of NGK plugs.

I've always purchased spark plugs at an auto parts store, which I assume are authorized retailers.

Yeah, I'm wondering why on earth he didn't go to Carquest in the first place. Plugs are cheap enough for me to not even shop around for a deal.

Because they came in an OEM (looking) box, and I had eBay bucks to use.
