I finally got around to starting a build log of the garage I'm building. Its going to be a 24x32 metal garage on a concrete slab.

The main purpose is to be a build shop for our Champcar endurance racing team. We started with a Porsche 944 back in 2012 and after a wreck at Sebring late last year we've started building another 944. This garage should allow me to get 2 shorter cars (like the 944) in nose-to-tail on one side and have the other side of the shop open for other project cars.

Currently, the slab is poured and I'm about 2 weeks out from the building installation.

Right now, I'm in between doing an epoxy floor coating or doing a concrete stain/sealer. I go back and forth, but right now I'm leaning towards the concrete stain in a solid grey. If I do stain, do you all think its reasonable to stain the concrete before the building goes up? With the epoxy, I'd be afraid it would be chipped and scratched during the building install, but Im not sure if thats the case for concrete stain.

As-built, the front of the building will have 2 x 9x8 garage door openings framed out. I'm planning on doing overhead doors in the future to match the house (I didn't want the roll-up door look). The back of the building will have a single 10' roll up door to allow me to get a potential future boat in the back (if it can't fit through the front doors).

This was our old team car, our red 944. Unfortunately I got hit hard at sebring and the frame is unfixable. When I made this thread, I couldn't find a great picture of the new car, but I'm sure I'll be adding plenty in the future.

Sounds like you're in the same boat I'm in. Building a 28x32 primarily for my race project, concrete gets poured in June. I'll be following along to see how it goes. On a side note I love endurance racing and Champcar looks like the way to go to get into it on a "budget." Unfortunately my car starts at 530 base points without mods and I've done an engine swap and almost doubled HP. Not really going to work for me...

I started with a 150 point car, 2.5x hp with an engine swap, front suspension and brakes from a different car, rear end from another and it was going to be 2,200 lbs with 280hp totaling 480 points. Then the rules changed before the build was done and it shot up to 5,000 points overnight hahaha!

FYI on floor coloring....the lighter the color, the easier to find dropped hardware.

If you want epoxy go for it. But spend the coin to cover it with Masonite and just duct tape it together and on the edges. Personally I could never have a epoxy floor and would opt for a sealer. There’s far too much spark making happening here.

Man, that sounds like a serious car. I think theres a team up in the north region that runs an E46 with an S54 drivetrain and its insanely fast (also EC).

I actually got started doing track days with my E46 330Ci about 10 years ago. Fun car.

Turns out it was the https in the imgur link that was throwing it off. I fixed it.

Yeah the red 944 was a nice car. The last impact was a real disappointment. About half of that red car will live on in the new chassis though.

I am leaning towards the stain/sealer right now. Added bonus is that i think i can stain and seal the concrete before the building goes up and i dont have to mask anything off.

Nice build you have going, building and car. I have a cousin who does endurance race out of western Nebraska. Don't know how he is doing with the rules changes, but he doesn't have an engine swap.
Last shop I was in we mixed dye in with the concrete before the pour, then put a matte clear sealer down later. That way, if the floor got chipped you wouldn't see a light gray spot in the floor.

Opted for concrete stain. Put it down this weekend. Building gets assembled thursday.
