When I first started as in the shipyard, I worked as a heavy equipment mechanic's helper, fixing blast pots and machines, air compressors that fed the whole yard. Worked 12 hours a day for the most part. We picked up a job on a U.S. Navy destroyer that was moored pier side at a nearby yard. Well I had to crawl under a giant turbine to fix a valve. I had a couple wrenches and a big corded floodlight. I crawled under the turbine which sits on and enclosed foundation. Found some insulation pipes to lay on while I worked. Heat from the floodlight got the best of me. I fell asleep for four hours. Woke up, did the five minutes of work I had to do, climbed out, I told my boss I hit a snag but fixed it and went to lunch. I guess it happens when you go to sleep at 12 am and have to get up for work at 0230 to be in by 0400.
