Fan for small garage

Hey guys,

I have a small single car garage at approximately 12' wide by 21' long. I'm looking for suggestions on what fan I should purchase. The garage gets hot at night when I work on projects. I like keeping my garage door closed, so the light does not effect the neighbors trying to sleep. I need something that will keep me cool but at the same time be as quiet as possible. I live in adjoining condo units, so a loud fan will be heard by my neighbors trying to sleep.

Any suggestions while not breaking the bank?

My garage is 12 ' x 24' and I put a 52 in - five blade ceiling fan in it. Keeps the air moving enough to where it feels o.k. Once it gets over 80 deg F. though, I turn on the portable a/c unit.

I've got one of these...It's not the quietest fan out there, but it really moves some air.

I had ceiling fans in the last shop, worked pretty good. If you can get Agricultural type fans, get them with the blade tips curved up, they spread the air out more coming down. I learned that the hard way.

Fans work reasonably well until the heat/humidity gets up there pretty high. You might be better off with a small air-conditioner to not only lower the temperature, but lower the humidity as well.

Like everyone else I have a ceiling fan. But it doesn't help with ventilation. So I keep one of those 3 speed box fans handy and raise the garage door about 2 feet just shy of the hight of the box fan which I brace against the opening blowing in or out depending on my type work. The newer box fans are pretty quiet also, but if I had to be that quiet I couln't get any real projects done.

how about the attic fan? since heat rises. and since you mention at night so no solar fan. unless you have one those humid air, like what we have here for past week.... icky no matter how many fan you got won't help.. only dehumidifier and AC does.

I've got the same one as TAMU05, and I recommend it. It really moves a lot of air.
