So I have a dual switch that I have a harbor freeze 70 inch remote control fan attached to. The way the fan is designed it didn't matter which switch you used the power would go on and off using either switch since the fan had a light wired through it that could only be controlled by the remote. Anyway. I took one of the switches and put a USB and a power outlet in, it works perfect however now the switch for the fan doesn't shut it off or on, I have to use the remote for everything. Any ideas how I should wire this?

So you had 2 switchs that were both 3 ways? And you replaced them both or just one with the USB / Power outlet?

Thanks

You had a 3-way setup for the fan, correct? Which switch did you swap out? If you swapped out the one providing power then, of course, the other one won't have anything to send to the fan.

But there's a lot of other possible variables involved. When you mention 'remote' and a light needing to use it, it sounds like there's a 'canopy' module inside the fan. There's a lot more to the situation.

Bottom line, power needs to get there, find and map out how the wires are powered and what actually goes where. It may turn out you can't replace that switch with the socket. That and there's potential electrical code issues at play. Switches aren't typically set at heights or locations that you're supposed to be putting live outlets.

maybe your fan control module is getting some interference from your cheap switch mode power supplies ? Take out the USB power outlet if it works you can probably guess the answer?

a detail of how you hook that switch up would tell a lot also.
