I am presently trying to research ceiling fan HVLS. The fans I am looking at are 3 Hunter's 8' fans or 1 large 12' fan from Big *** or similar companies. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions. I do not have any roof vents on my building. I am going with a 48" exhaust fan on the south endwall. I've been told I can crack open a far door and turn the exhaust fan on and it will be like an old house attic fan.

Any input will be appreciated.

You are on the right track. With your exhaust and an open door on the opposite end will provide cross ventilation which is great. One improvement with that is instead of relying on an open door, but install dampers along that same wall. That way you can run the exhaust fan off of a thermostat while the shop is closed up. This would help in preventing heat soak with in the shop and it contents. Then with the ceiling fans their ideal operation would be for the air flow to be downward when you area needs the cooling. And up ward with in need of heating.

Multiple small one will be easier to work around and avoid the blades from making moving shadows.
