Hi. Im new to this forum, I wont waste time with introductions and my life story.
Basically i keep my track car on a friends farm and lately recently we decided to give it a overhaul. My friends family have stayed on the farm for almost 101 years and the barn has been there since they moved in. it was originally used by them as a dairy farm, were they had 16 or so cows in the mid '60's, then more recently (90's) as a machine shop for another family member. The old slate roof was replaced 2years ago so its perfectly watertight!
i will let the pictures tell the story Apologies for some of the pictures, one or 2 are Iphone spec!
The workshop will be used for the following fleet
This is the workshop. its dark, messy and needing some TLC. I work in a state of the art Honda dealership which was built a year or so again. this was just not going to do for working on my own car!
The workshop was previously shortened to allow a walkway to be installed for the farm workers. it creates a handy upper storage section for tyres and bumpers
Also there was a very old Battery charger for an electonic vehicle they used for transporting eggs about 15yrs ago. This still had a live feed to it and had to be isolated before removal
The wooden slats were painted white, which took forever (there is a Woodwork shop above the workshop) hopefully i never ever have to paint them again
we set about weatherproofing an old window frame that had a tendancy to leak during bad weather. its worth noting that all the work is being carried out by me, my farmer friend, a building architect friend and a joiner friend!
This wall is where the toolboxes and main workbench will sit, so we decided to board it up to neaten it. simple frame and ply job done the trick. The floor is being painted with a simple Mid Grey durable floorpaint, along with all the other paint, aquired from my father who is a painter/decorator.
Progress finally!
The opposite side of the workshop will not be boarded as we planned on installing some sort of storage. Again, the roof floor and wall was given a coat of paint
thumbs up who likes painting stone walls!
before going any further we ordered the shelving and moevd the toolboxes into their new homes
Seemed like we'd never get here!
The shelving was bought from an ebay retailer, it fits in with the colour scheme. It was a bit risky but its turned out to be a top purchase and is very sturdy. Theres loads of car and tractor part to be stored, so this is gonna be perfect
The Big man was loving his new bedroom (Boss, 8yr old German shephard)
One other area we wanted to address was the corner where the old battery charger sat. there was a water pipe running up the wall so it seemed the perfect place for a sink. We done a temporary job for now until some pipe arrives later this week. Then i'll paint it
Walkway wall was also painted
Back at work this week so once the weekend comes we've got the back wall to paint, finish of the sink and then give the whole floor a few more coats. Keep posted for updates.
