Hi folks

Joined the site about a week ago after I decided to clean up the workshop and make it look a bit more like a workshop rather than a dumping ground, I should really have took pictures before I started.

It was a tip, it's an old cattle shed as when we moved to the farm 8 years ago there was no workshop and we needed something quick, to put all of the old mans tools in.

For the last 8 years the only workbench we had was an old oil tank with the bottom cut out, no shelves and just a mess pics to follow of sections I've done and some I haven't started. It was a case of never having time to do anything more.

Time for a change :)

Yesterday I had a spare 3 hours so decided I'd build myself a bench and fit 2 bulk head lights above it, I haven't had chance to dab into the mains box yet so just stuck a plug on the end and after 3 hours this is what I ended up with

A little bit of gripper mat that I will have to glue down

It's by no means in comparison to some of the garage threads on here but it's only for the farm.

I will keep updating as and when I get time for those that are interested.

Looks like a good start!

Hey, even if you think it is "only for the farm", a well planned and equipped workshop will contribute to the efficiency of equipment repair and maintenance and, eventually, to the profitability of the farm.

Suggest that you make a basic overall design for your shop ... existing shop equipment, planned shop equipment, hoped-for shop equipment, general work areas, lighting, power etc. Will save you a lot of time and prevent do-overs!

Also, GJ members like to know where the Poster is from, so it would be helpful if you added your location to the avatar information. Last suggestion, make your photo files smaller. There are guidelines posted here somewhere on GJ that give recommended photo sizes and file sizes to make viewing easier.

Good luck with your shop and keep posting progress pics from time to time.
