Was at Costco and saw this Fastcraft oscillating tool for $40 on sale. It's corded, comes with a bag and 40 blades and has multiple speeds. Anyone know anything about this brand and if it's any good? It seems like a good deal just for the blades, unless they're made from cheese grade materials.

I bet this is one of the items that Costco was able to source a few pallets of. Hard to say. Buy one to try out. Worst case, if it *****, Costco's return policy is excellent.

You're right about the return policy. It's just weird... I've never heard of the brand and there's not much about it online. Anyway I got one and I've used it once now, seems to do the job.

40 blades if they fit any thing else is a great buy for $40. Go for it just for the blades.

I notice ALL the attachments are slotted. Does the tool have a quick-release clamp?

If it does--I'm buying one. My HF is working just fine but you have to remove an allen bolt to change blades. C'mon this is the 21st century!

Can't take a picture right now, but it does use a quick release mechanism to hold the blades. There's a paddle on top that you flip and can slip the blade in and out. It has a specific pattern of holes in the blade and pins in the jaw that clamp into the holes. I'm guessing that's a standard pattern, though I have no idea-- this is actually my first oscillating tool, believe it or not. :shocking:

Right on. I hope it works out for you. I’ve used mine a couple more times now and I’m happy with it. I was thinking about taking it apart and greasing the innards but haven’t had a chance yet.

Found it on clearance at Costco in MN for 29.97.
Had to check my bag to get home, but it was a business trip, so no cost to me. ( Except having to wait for my bag)

Does it have the 3.4 amp motor? If it's the same as the Performax at Menards it's really good. There is a cheaper lighter model but it's not the same. If it's the same power and weight as the Dewalt or Rigid it's a generic tool they rebrand lots of places.

The sticker on mine says 2.4 amp motor. So maybe it's not quite as good a deal as I thought. But it has held up to light household use so far.

Mine does what I need it to do, but never used a quality one, so . . .

Mostly use it for little trim tasks and cutting drywall.
