Black stone, jonesway & fmt are fastenal private label brands which most are imported. Comparable to HF.

All my stuff was Taiwanese and while absolutely no guarantee of quality the mere fact of Taiwanese origin already gives it a fighting chance of being a step above HF. Of course there's no way to know without a side-by-side comparison & HF's quality is improving seemingly every day.

Whatever. I'm not a HF fan boy but consumers ****. Companies try to compete with cheap import and consumers *****. HF puts out a professional line of ratchets (which by all accounts are very, very nice for what they are) and consumers ***** it's too expensive:

I see the 3/8" composite is presently $13.99 though - I'm ordering!

Re: Fastenal clearance - Jonesway tools

There are still a lot of Jonesway tools on sale at Fastenal at modest prices. Flares, ratcheting single wrenches, ect. Have anyone picked up any Jonesway tools and have ground truth data? Are they solid? Paul

I picked up a set of the metric reversible ratcheting wrenches. They're solid, good feel and decent chrome. Work as intended, although I'm not a huge fan of the reversing switch, could be better made. But for a reversible set that contains 10, 12, 14, 17, and 19mm pieces, you're getting a great deal @ $30.

^^not entirely surprising as he posted that 9/15/14

This was an in-store deal in 28147. Stores vary. The guy told me in store deals are not published because inventories are unique. I'd suggest going in to your local store if you're looking for a special item. I'd also suggest making a friend that you can call. I try to throw the guy a five for lunch and I get deep discounts. Go figure! If I need a particular item say an sds bit, I call and ask for him. I tell him what I'm looking for and add that I'm looking for one that is cost effective and I'd be very thankful if he could take a look when he has a minute. He calls me back when he 'finds' one. Sometimes the savings is worth more than a five. Don't be a cheapskate! Deals to be had. This works everywhere.
