Fastener Question on Old Wilton 820

I'm refinishing a couple Wilton 820s. One is circa either '53 or '55 (hard to tell). The horseshoe washer had Phillips head fasteners. I thought all these should be flat-blade screw driver type machine screws.

I also have another 820 I'm going to do,which has Phillips type screws holding the jaws on. Again, I thought these should be flat blade machine screws.

Did Wilton ever use Phillips in these applications?

Good question. My 1-46 820s has flat blade screws in both the jaws and horseshoe.

Same with my '46 3.5 inch Wilton.
