It can be tough coming up with a good idea for Father's Day. What's your suggestion in the $50-$100 range? Anything you've received lately that you really appreciated? Drop a pic if you have one!

He's a house builder/remodeler by trade. Last birthday we got him a Stilleto Ti Hammer and that was appreciated, but drawing a blank this time around. Hobbies include fishing and crabbing.

I'll be that guy...

Anything really useful in that price range I would already have, don't even try.

I'd rather it was spent on a couple of good steaks, beer and a couple of hours of frank talk about how my son is doing with his life.

Better than that would be anything my son spent some time making or restoring. Whether or not it's useful isn't the point. The point is that he took the time out of his busy life to do it for me. As an example, go to antique store, garage sale, etc and find something and restore it. Or something broken he's kept around because it's sentimental and fix it for him.

One year for my son's birthday I fixed an old flashlight his grandfather gave him and updated it to use an led bulb. It now works and makes useful light. He now remembers us both when he sees it.

A couple years ago I got my dad a Ryobi 18v starter kit with a tool because he was woefully behind the times with his cordless tools.

Now every holiday or occasion I just get him another Ryobi tool to go with the set. There's so much variety in the Ryobi lineup there always has to be something he doesn't have. And the bare tools are inexpensive compared to the high end tool brands, can easily find decent options under $100 and even quite a few under $50.
