Fathers Day Tools?

For weeks I've been getting gift guide "suggestions" from marketing folks, but a lot of their ideas are either dumb or outlandish. Is Dad really going to get a full garage's worth of premium cabinetry for Father's Day?

What do you guys think would be particularly good as a F-Day tool gift? And if you're just going to say "USA tools," an example would be nice.

I definitely agree on the Milwaukee 26" box @ Home Depot.....made in USA & lifetime warranty.

I have one....they are nice.

You might laugh at the following Fathers Day gift, but I must say they are very nice and they come in a two pack plastic shell pack. all for $14.97 From Home Depot.

Don't get me wrong every Man/Women could find an everyday use with these tools from cutting up cardboard to cutting gasket material and everything you can think of.

That's a very dangerous tool to have! Once you start using it, you'll pine for more Veritas tool, which becomes hazardous to your bank account!

Good suggestions Stuey! but I liked the "What NOT to get dad" post even better except for one thing: it was TOO SHORT! you could have listed literally hundreds of those gimmick tools like the dog bone, and RoboGrips and what not...

Well... a gimmicky tool to one is a great tool to another. Gimmicky vs. practical is sometimes very clear, other times it's muddy.

Plus, while dog bones were popular yesteryear, now it's the multi-functional drivers and ratchets that are popular. Changes every year.

My goal was not to tell readers specifically what not to buy, but the types of tools to look out for. That way they can judge for themselves. Otherwise someone might send the list to their wife/kids/buddy who might look at a tool, see that it's not on the list, and consider it to be a good gift idea by exclusion.

If you are cheap the kobalt flashlights on clearance at Lowes are hard to beat for the money. probably brightest flashlight you can find for 9 dollars and rechargeable without having to keep track of a cord!

Tools for Father's Day?

****....I'll be happy to just have a day of working on the house with the family (wife and kids) around and a few brewskies along the way....


Father's day? Come Sunday night...I'll be having a beer and sitting down the back garden and have a 'chat' with dad's ashes in the garden......and saying thank you for all the good advice.....and guidance along the way.
