Well the fathers day weekend started out great Friday evening my wife and daughter informed me that in addition to a gift arriving on Saturday that they wanted to give me some money so I could go out to some estate sales and garage sales.
So naturally I searched around and found the most promising tool sale I could find and headed out first thing Saturday morning. Upon arriving 10 minutes early I noticed some people already walking around the barn so I went in and asked if they had any vises to which they said they just sold one to a guy for $5 but it was the only one they had and they didn't know anything about it.. Well **** missed that but I continue looking and managed to find some nice things.
First it was a cool old Husky 3/8" ratchet.
Then a 1/4" Craftsman RHFT.
Then I found a nice old Vlchek ball peen.
And a sweet 3LB brass sledge.
Then I found a couple little brass containers.
And finally 2 starrett heads a angle finder, center finder, and I believe a Miller's Falls Square head.
And lastly a box of sanding arbors and drums
Feeling pretty good I asked the guy how much and he said how about $20. I asked if he was sure, to which he replied this is a 1 day sale and we want it all gone today, so I happily paid the man and headed out to the car. Once loaded up I figured I had better go back in and make another final round.
That was when I spotted this SK Wayne 3/8" set almost compete minus a ratchet
After browsing around a little more the only other thing I couldn't live without was crazy huge bullet.
So I hit the gentlemen man up on a price for both and he said $10. Done and done.
Feeling pretty good and still enough vise hunting money in my pocket I took off to some other sales.
Nothing much going until I stop at the small garage sale which had a little table in the garage with some tools on it and it had this ratchet laying there.
So a strange coincidence I needed a ratchet from a very specific era of SK tools and found just that not an hour later.
