Looking to finish the inside of my 20 x 20 workshop inside my new garage.
I was looking at the FRP panels like whats used in commercial kitchens but thought doing the bottom 4' in a faux metal or diamond-plate would look great.

Looking for a source. I'm not finding much via Google and fairly expensive.

Option / ideas appreciated.

Found this at $100 per 4x8 panel. I need about 10 panels.

Look at "onlinediamondplate.com , they have several options and colors. Should have something that would work. Also Formica and WilsonArt make laminate sheets that look like the real thing and other metal looking finishes as well.

That Amazon offering is pretty thin at .013", I'd be afraid of it bending just by handling. I see it's actually PVC and not aluminum, as thin as it is I'd be afraid of it telegraphing any imperfections in the wall behind it - will need a pretty smooth mounting surface.

I found .025" thick aluminum diamond plate for less than $900 shipped to FL for ten sheets here:

https://onlinediamondplate.com/product/embossed-aluminum-diamond-plate-sheet-025-thick/

There might be cheaper places than that, it was one of the first I found.

.025" ?

Never seen such a thing.

Marc

.025 is 22 guage in Aluminum. For reference, steel roofing panels are typically 26 gauge at only 0.179" thick. I agree this is pretty thin and would need backing, however it's twice as thick as the OP's first discovery on Amazon which is 0.013" PVC finished to look like Aluminum.

I see Johnsonsurplus.com has new aluminum diamond plate .045 4x8 for $90 and .025 for $60 They also have rubber diamond plate flooring for $12 per running foor for 8.2 wide. They also have diamond plate steel sheeting .14 guage for $90 per sheet. They are out of Mottville MI and say they ship daily. I am just reading it out of a "trader" paper.

This is where I bought my aluminum diamond plate for my trailer.

On second thought, I think I bought it at another supplier just miles away. I know i bought white aluminum trailer panels and aluminum angle from these guys. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again......I did however, good there in person.

Yes this will be glued to plywood backing. Just like the white Pebble finish frp sheets used in commercial kitchens.

It's called FRP, for Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic.

I wouldn't go with the faux diamond plate, the prices quoted above are pretty expensive and I think that look is pretty played out anyway.

This is on the walls at the gym where I train and is the look I'm going for. Still haven't found anything reasonable.

I did lower part of 3 garage walls in 4x8 sheets from metal surplus yard around $90 per sheet. Top of wall painted Coke red. Wall with rolling tool boxes is just red paint.

Did you have to mount the 4x8 sheets directly onto studs or against drywall or wood? 4x8 diamond plate would be cool in the new garage.

I bought these tikes to replace some faux stainless that was leftover from a refrigerator we got rid of. That looked good until I left the wrong kind of chemical near it on a hot day and the bottle overflowed, discoloring the hell out of it.

Anyway, gonna take that stuff off and apply some primered 1/8" plywood on the textured drywall, then this stuff and seal the edges carefully with clear silicone. I'll mask before doing the silicone to minimize the bead.

Depends on how thick of a sheet you were using if you wanted to cheapen out. Me personally, if attached garage, drywall first. Detached garage, I'd put up plywood or OSB first.

Whatever type you decide on I'd keep it below 4ft on the wall. If you did the wall floor to ceiling, I think the glare would be terrible.

Those of you that adhered full .025 sheets of diamond plate to the wall, how did you do it? and how is it holding up? I was thinking of using FRP glue troweled to the drywall... but not sure if it will "stick"
Currently my walls are painted drywall and clean and straight but I want to do the lower 4' in diamond plate to make cleaning easy and make it look good as well.

Good old contact cement will hold those panels up just fine. The good, kills brain cells, solvent based stuff.

I used to work for an HVAC sompany and we skinned many commercial kitchen grill areas with stainless sheets.
