Torx

I thought this was a brand question and was gonna say that PB Swiss killed my desire for Snappy drivers

I also prefer Torx, except for perhaps T27 as I find too many people use T25s on them. T25 and T27 are close enough that T27 is an abomination that shouldn't exist :) I think I have encountered T27 more in home projects than cars though.

Really, though, I'm ok with pretty much anything other than Phillips. If a law came out forbidding Phillips screws be used in any new stuff, I'd be ok with it.

My new Rolgear is by far my favourite screwdriver for the moment. 15in1 no click ratcheting action, smooth as butter.

I bought through Amazon (too much money) but found Princess Auto had them for about 2/3 of the price on sale in flyer. c34c55250bad21d202b9bf9b4fe3f78b.jpg

Red Robbie, hands down.

Torx tips wobble in the recess and don't stick. Its not as good as Robertson but its better than Philips, hex and slot abominations.

I would say Torx, BUT. . . . if the screw is a fillister head with its deep slot, then a Phillips or even a straight slot screwdriver can be enjoyable to use.

Why has nobody mentioned Clutch Head drivers and screws?

I remember them from the '50s General Motors cars.

So far so good. It's just seeing household use for now but they feel sturdy enough.

I'd probably still reach for a regular driver with a hex shank for breaking loose a hard fastener, but this driver is awesome for making quick work of assembly and disassembly tasks or things around the house.

My vote is Robertson too. You can stick the screw on the driver and carry it right to the spot you're placing it. Torx seems like the new champ in the popularity game but I believe for ease of use Robertson is the chief.

Favorite screwdriver is the flathead because you use it as a chisel, prybar, grease scrapper, shank anything the flathead is king for everything besides removing screws lol.

Hands down #2 Robertson. Especially since the invention of the clutch on drills and drivers. Torx are ok, but need to be size specific. Once you work with Robertson’s for a while you wonder why anyone would use Phillips. (Same as once you use Phillips you wonder why anyone would use slot) next time you have a project buy a tub of Robertson’s and give them an go.
