My favorite screwdrivers would probably be the snap-on instinct soft grips but I dont own any yet :( I like my ultra pro hard handles but am in the market to upgrade, what are your favorite screwdrivers?

The cheap ones from the discount table, they pry,put holes in things, open part box's,chisel things and hold parts in place whilst puting bolts in.Its the universal tool realy.

SnapOn ratcheting. But I'm torn between the old style with the hard grips, and the new style with the rubberized grip.

I like the rubberized grip, and I really like that the shafts are now interchangeable. I also like that little hex holder in the cap of the full size handle, and the fact that the cap locks in place, instead of screws on (the old ones always got stuck).
BUT, the old ones had a much smoother ratcheting action. And the old style stubby was a tiny bit shorter than the new one.

The answer. Get a few sets of both. ;)

I like the MAC hard handles and the previous generation Snap-on hard handles. Klein's are good if you need to spin screws real fast.

Probably my best is the black with blue Hazet P3.

I use the cheap blue handled ones the most.

Beefiest whole set is my Wiha extra heavy duty set.

snap on instinct or hard handles, whichever I feel like using. Mostly any kind of snap on, the hex bolstered shafts are especially useful on those insanely torqued #3 phillips bolts found on Hondas. I cant ever break them loose with my bad hands, snap on drivers let me cheat.

* hard handle 1st version/generation A (or whatever they're called) SO

* plain ol' CM whatevers - used 'em so long they just feel right

* hard handle 2nd version/generation B SO or Williams (though I'm not convinced yet the blades are equal to SOs although the cost is right!!)

Us Americans are still trying to buy Made in USA stuff, right? *ducks*

They seem to be the same Western Forge drivers I just ordered from the below link in a 19pc set just with Husky logos instead of Craftsman.

http://store.harryepstein.com/cp/WesternForge/RED-WHITE-BLUE.html
Somehow I've got a CM black/red(?) whatever-in-one that looks like those.
It feels like the original(?) Professional handle except w/soft, rubbery, grabby stuff on it.... iow good except for the soft handle.

What's the history on this particular line.... and what's it called?
Somehow I either missed it or went on ignore because of the non-hard handles.

I don't know anything about the name aside from "cushion grip" or history of them. I just stumbled onto them while looking for an upgrade from my basic plastic handle Craftsmans and not wanting to buy more $nap On stuff. I thought it was a good deal and they looked comfortable so I ordered them up yesterday.

I have one craftsman #2 phillips I bought years ago to fill the slot of another one that went MIA which is blue with a black rubber Klein style handle and it was my favorite up until I bought a few Snap On soft grips.

The set in the link I posted seems to be rebranded by Craftsman, Husky and SK as seen below with the SK logo and uses a different style rubber grip instead of the old Klein style rubber grip.

SK version...

This was my go to #2 screwdriver for years that I mentioned above...

Just yesterday I placed an order through Epstein's for the Craftsman RED/BLUE set . After reading up, I am fairly sure they are the same as the Husky Pros as they both come from Western Forge. I ordered these instead of the newer Craftsman Professionals as I wanted a full cushion grip to compliment the Williams hard handles also ordered recently. Hopefully both sets are as nice as people say. For $22 for the Craftsman 11pc set and $20 for the Williams 5pc set at Tools Delivered, I couldn't resist buying both.

We will see if they displace the Wiha 3ks I have that are my current favorites.

Snap-on 2nd generation "PowerGrip Plus" hard handles. Black, if you couldn't tell.
Also, I have a couple Hozan JIS Phillips in the mix for Japanese-specific phillips screws.

...as well as my dad's set of black/orange that are older than me!

I have a single #2 Phillips black/orange Stanley and always wondered how old it was. What's the ballpark age range of them? Any idea? I love that thing and have put it through hell and the tip is still good and the handle while it looks used doesn't look abused like some of my late 70s early 80s Craftsman plastic handles do.

I nearly ordered a set of hard handle Williams but when I came across the 19pc cushion grip WF made Craftsmans I couldn't pass it up and decided not to buy the Williams now. If for some reason I hate the cushion grips (which I doubt I will since I like the soft grip Snap On drivers I just bought) then I'll get the Williams and still won't feel bad since the 19pc set was only $37.

Like I really needed more screwdrivers anyway. I have a garage set, woodworking shop set, kitchen set, guitar work set and a whole bunch of random partial sets.
