I have a single #2 Phillips black/orange Stanley and always wondered how old it was. What's the ballpark age range of them? Any idea? I love that thing and have put it through hell and the tip is still good and the handle while it looks used doesn't look abused like some of my late 70s early 80s Craftsman plastic handles do.

I was born in 1987 and he had them before me...so my guess is early 1980s?

Odds are that's about right since a bunch of my tools are late 70s to mid 80s hand me downs from my father and older brother which is where my lone orange/black Stanley came from along with a few different variations of the plastic handle Craftsmans and two clear handle Enderes USAs also.

We have a couple of those clear Enderes in the back room at the hardware store. Old but they work all the time!

My phillips Enderes is still going strong but the corner of the tip broke off on the flat blade so I pulled the blade and stuck in a magnetic hex bit holder and made it a universal driver.

+1 - I like the Craftsman Professionals too.

I could be wrong, but I think the Craftsman Pro's are the SK cushion grips. Anybody know?

You are correct sir. The craftsman pros are half the price. Both are made by western forge. Great screwdrivers for the money.

I like the Wiha Microfinish extra heavy duty set. Next favorite are the Felo 550 series. The Wiha have the edge because the phillips tips are better.

I like the old snap on hard handles but I find for a lot less MONEY...the Williams Hard handle works out the best for my vote. Now I realize a lot of guys are going ape **** over the German and swiss screwdrivers but if the break I would be somewhat clueless on how to get a replacement so again my vote is ior the Williams screwdrivers.

Classic stanley screwdrivers.. I'm not a tool snob, they work fine and they are what i grew up using

Where can you still buy those? Ive still got some floating around and they work great

The only stanley screwdrivers I see around are the US with global component ones that are everywhere from walmart to home depot, etc.

PB Swiss with SwissGrip are my favorite drivers. I have a pretty good set of Felo 500s that I really love, too. I like the feel of the PBs better, but I like the price of the Felos better.

Mine are also well used.

Here are my favorites.
Wiha lasertips.
A single Beta that I have no idea where it come from.
A few KWB. I like them as they have bigger handles.
Some older Acesa.
A single hard handle Sandvik. I wish I had more of them.
And a KWB that I bit to hell and reshape the tip on a bench grinder to adapt it to some odd screws I had to remove.

For a short period of time SK made a hard handle green handle made in france screwdriver with a boxier design than their traditional screwdriver. I have one flathead with a square shank. It is the greatest prybar / chisel I have ever used. I love it I would buy any if I ever found them again. I don't really like their original screwdrivers that have the handle like the old hard handle SO they are weak I have broken way to many way to soon. Hit or miss with SK

I have a few of those Husky screwdrivers that I bought individually at HD. They are good quality and feel good in the hand.

I also have some of the HF ones shown, and keep them in the "house" tool box.

My go to favorites are my Snap On Instinct soft grips. I would be heart broken if they would ever be lost or stolen. Second are Craftsman Pros. I use these in my on the road tool set. Best bang for the buck screwdrivers
