I like the Snapon hard handle, but I use first thing I grab, most often its a cheap old HF, or a bit driver of some kind.

I'll use whatever the heck is going to work in any given situation. Hell, I'll use a knife as a slotted if I don't have one on hand.

I go for a dime or penny, no sense in chipping a good knife blade.

I like my Klien drivers, Cheap and get r done most of the time. I like SO, and old school cm, but my tote has the kleins. The rest have a drawer space in the toolbox.

I just was introduced to a Mac guy near me and was going to pic up a set of these or the new USA made soft grips that just came out. How do you like these? Do the tips hold up? Have you seen the new ones yet in person?

I have not seen the new MAC drivers in person yet, so I can't comment on those. My MAC comfort grips are real nice. The tips are all the same size as my SO hard handles except for the 5/16 inch wide straight slot blades.

The MAC 5/16 inch wide blade will be .042'' thick, while the SO version is .047'' thick. I actually found some screws I had on an outside gate hinge where the SO 5/16'' was too thick for the screw slot, but the MAC 5/16'' was perfect; so I use the MAC 5/16'' whenever I run across some straight slot screws that have a little more narrow slots. The 3/16 inch, 1/4 inch, and 3/8 inch wide blades are the exact same thickness as SO.

I think ultimategarage was no longer doing tool sales since the move down south so not much Facom here.

Did I miss something?

AFAIK Facom is a hard purchase to get in the states after ultimategarage and Griots both let the line go away.

You know more?

I want me some more facom. :)
Please?
Ha.

I've tried all sorts of ratcheting screwdrivers, but always gravitate back to the EASYDRIVER ball.
And of all the miriad of hard handle drivers out there, I've found a sweet spot for the old Proto yellow Bet-R-Grips.

Was just given a WERA kraftform....will have to give it a try at work and see what all the fuss is about.

I already put my favorites as the Snap-On hard handle but I should add to it. I have a set of Stanley FatMax Xtreme demolition drivers that I beat like a rented mule.

I like the old Napa/Witte screwdrivers, I also have some Snap On instincts and Matco Wittes at work and Craftsman Pros at home, but 1st choice by far is the Napa's.

Ive got my old ones that I have had for years but they are gettng the white death on the handles again. I cleaned them up a year ago with a tedious mixtue of soaking them cleaning them and coating them with a clear stuff [dont remember the name of it ] But they are doing it again. Would love to save them if i can any ideas from anybody.:dunno:

1:The old Octo Grip by Snap On. Rock solid blades that took a long time to wear down and they were still nice after being re-dressed.
2: Wayne era SK. It may be just me but the ones I had seemed to have a beefier handle than the latter green n white ones .

Instincts. the pinnacle of screwdriver evolution. if you disagree you're wrong.

I disagree....they've cheapened the machining/finish of their blades since the hard handle days (Mine are circa '96-'01)(and even the soft grip days too) but the instinct handle itself is really, really good. Unfortunately the work is done at the tips and they don't compare with some other brands anymore. Disappointing to say the least.

I will add that my disappointment comes from the drivers in my 6pc soft grip instinct set; I bought stubbys and 12" flat tip and #2 Phillips and those 4 are all good. If I remember I'll bring the instincts home & take pics to compare.

I disagree with you. I got one instinct screwdriver (ph3) and it's the best screwdriver for applying great force. But I don't think it's the best allround screwdriver. It's heavy and for quick spinning I also need a more "nuteral" shaped handle like Wiha or Pb Swiss... Just my opinion :)

That's funny since snap on brought back the old style hard handles that seem to sell better than the instincts.

I really like the new MAC/PROTO duratec or quad lobe screwdrivers. They did their homework and came out with an excellent screwdriver.
