One of these days I need to breakdown and get a horizontal bandsaw of some sort. I'd like to save up for a little larger version with coolant capablity. Otherwise, I'd just get one of the popular 4" X 6" versions. Lately the mitering option is attractive as well since I don't have a lot of room. Cost is also a concern so unfortunately something like an Ellis is likely out of the question unless I find a good used one.

Any feedback on either of these 2? Is Jet generally better than Grizzly? I know there are a number of names stamped on what is the same basic saw, Enco, Baileigh, TurnPro, HF, etc.

Option 1: Grizzly G0613 7" X 8" Swivel Bandsaw

Option 2: Jet 7" X 10.5" Swivel Bandsaw

Both of these are gear driven. The Grizzly has the following things going for it: lower cost, better work height, smaller footprint, did I mention lower cost :).

The Jet model appears to be the same basic saw as the Baileigh BS-712MS but at a slightly lower price point.

Thoughts?

As long as it doesn't bother you having a "lesser" brand save the $ get the grizzly and put the best blade on it you can buy. I got the cheapee harbor freight 1 and it works great with a lenox blade. I recently scored a grizzy drill press off craigslist and was very impressed with the quality, also seems parts are readily available through their web site.
