I am attempting to finalize plans for my 30 x 34 detached garage build and I am looking for feedback on the prelim plans.

I incorporated many of the thoughts from the lessons learned thread and I think we are close. The first floor lighting will be revised from the canned lighting to lighting strips based on information gleaned from the lighting forum.

I wanted a separate bedroom area in the upstairs area but am concerned as depicted the bedroom may be too small.

Any thoughts/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I think my attachments were too small to view and give feedback so I have increased the size of the PDFs (I think) in these attachments.

I am contemplating placing the smaller door to the left of the building and lengthening the two full bays to provide more usable space upstairs.

Thoughts?

The bathroom will get a lot of use so keep it close to the top of the stairs. If the purpose of the kitchen / bedroom is for guests my preference is an open "cottage-like" concept…. = no separation walls.

My thoughts on the upstairs living space is two-fold. Initially it will be a man cave type space and if that was the sole purpose I would not want a wall. Eventually, I think it would be an ideal space for a caregiver to provide assistance in our "golden years". I think as an apartment it is more attractive with a separate sleeping area. I just think as is, it is kinda small.

I'm not sure if your plans have it, but I'd make sure you add a sink downstairs so you don't have to keep walking upstairs just to wash your hands.
