MOST of the feeler gauges manufactured here are made by Kastar/Lang.
They stamp all kinds of different brand names on them for all kinds of different "tool manufacturers", including the "truck brands".

Probably one of the best deals you can find right now is this "Wilde" branded model - $9 bucks including shipping:

(looks like he's sold out of the other models.)

Absolutely NO reason to "pay stupid money" for a feeler gauge when most all of them are made by the same outfit.

(Check "Kastar" listings on Ebay - generally there's a lot of NOS stuff listed there.)

I have a set that is stainless steel. I like them because I don't have to keep oil on them to prevent rusting.

Without paying a lot of money, Lang makes some nice ones and they're made in USA. The Craftsman feeler gauges are Lang.

Not much to a feeler gage really. If they are nicely ground, they won't rust as easily. If they are nicely heat treated, they will flex without bending permanently. The edges shouldnt have burrs, like they were stamped out. I have a set of the older Starretts. The markings are engraved or Chem milled so they don't wear off. Beautiful old serifed type. Should be able to find them on eBay for $10.

Bent ones are handy as are the long way ones. Snap on made a set for valves with hard handles.
