So I have these metal sawhorses, which I have been using for a trailer project, among other things. The feet are 5/8" coarse threaded rod, with nuts for adjustment so they can be leveled.

I'd like to give the very bottom of the threaded rod more surface area, but I am not sure of the best approach. I'm concerned about the weldabilty of the threaded rod.

Thoughts? I've attached a picture.

Weld a piece of plate to the head of a 5/8 setscrew. If you want to get really trick, drill and tap a 5/16 thread into the end, screw in a socket head cap screw and tack weld it in place. Now you can use an allen key on a ratchet to level it. The super extra deluxe version requires a piece of insertion rubber to be glued to the bottom of the plate.
