Fein AFSC 18 Cordless SuperCut Oscillating Tool Kit - 299$

71360109630-2T.jpg

Tool Nut has the SuperCut kit with two batteries and a case on a pretty good sale. 40% Off what CPO has it at currently and near 50% off what Amazon has it at.

https://www.toolnut.com/Fein_AFSC_18_Cordless_SuperCut_Oscillating_Tool_Ki_p/71360109630.htm

They also have an adapter for using the cheaper Multi Master blades on it:

Could someone who knows and uses these tools give a rundown on the way the blades work and what ones to use for what things? I don't know what to buy with this, adapters or blades or whatnot. I need to do some drywall work and am not sure what blade is the one for that.

I can't tell you anything about this specific tool but these tools are great in a lot of situations. I always looked at them as a gimmick tool. Was I wrong

Always heard good things about Fein. Shame I'm so invested in Dewalt or I'd buy this. Can't do another battery platform. They really missed the mark on aesthetics on this tool. It looks uncomfortable and blocky as heck.

Well, just placed my order. I got an assortment of different blades and things. Hopefully all compatible. When I get mine I'll do another detailed look with photos like I did for the drill to help fence sitters.

Shane, any idea when they will start shipping out?

Hopefully soon, now that I've dropped the cash I really want to play with it!

Should ship immediately, so today. Generally, if you order by 2pm or so Eastern Time we will ship same day.

There was an issue in the warehouse with the drills which caused a very unusual delay of a couple of days. Definitely an anomaly and not something that happens normally.

And, thanks for the order. I hope my advice on blades was helpful. Enjoy!

Thanks for the deal Shane. The drills I bought (all 3) have been awesome.

This is a little more lukewarm for me as I only use an oscillating multi tool on very occasional circumstances, so a battery powered one seems like it'd have an overall shorter lifespan for me especially when Fein batteries are currently so damn expensive.

Any chance of a corded version going on sale?

Also I've been trying to research the difference between the multi master and the Supercut. So they take different blades (though an adapter exists to resolve that), and it seems the supercut is the higher end/more powerful version. Is there anything else I'm missing?

Really appreciate you feeding us tool addicts!

This sounds like a great deal, thanks for setting it up for us.

I am on the fence right now, but only because my tool budget needs to refill a bit. I have a corded Fein SC and used it cut dovetails the other day - thinking about a cordless version the whole time.

If they last, I will have one in time.

@Pureleaf, glad to toss out some tool fodder for you guys.

It's not an easy task getting a deal organized on Fein tools. They are pretty protective of their pricing model, which I can certainly understand. I'm actually pretty surprised we were able to score this deal on the cordless Supercut, which was a response to some of the drill buyers asking for a cordless Multimaster or Supercut to go along with their drill. So, I'm doubtful of a big discount on a corded model at this point. But, we'll see...

The Supercut is meant to be more of a pro-grade tool. It's more powerful, cuts faster, lower vibration, and quieter. The speed and power are really the big things that differentiate it from the MM.

As a reminder, Fein has a three year warranty on their tools, including the batteries.

And, thanks for the drill order. Glad to read that you're enjoying them.

I think I figured out some blades to get based on your advice. I got a few different ones and grabbed a couple of cheap ones just to mess around with. Unfortunately looks like I missed the boat on shipping for today... It still says processing for my order.

Supercut blade availability is limited. You will not find them in stores.
And fein brand blades are very expensive, for both this and the Multimaster.
There are a few companies that have Supercut compatible blades for sale, such as Imperial, and they also sell adaptors to use with their house brand blades.

That said, this is a high quality, professional tool and the price seems good.
This is highly favored by glaziers, as there are specialized blades, scrapers and knives available for it.

I got an order confirmation but no shipping code . I paid the extra for the priority shipping. So I was hoping that they would bump me up the list and send it the next day. when I bought my ASCM and Dewalt miter saw they shipped with confirmation the next day. Not sure why they haven't shipped my Supercut yet.

@firworks/@wiily, I'm admittedly surprised those didn't ship today. If you would, please send me your contact info so I can check on the status of your orders. I assume you guys both ordered before around 2pm Eastern.

Edit:
@firworks, I found your order based on your city. Looks like we're out of stock on the sandpaper pack you ordered is out of stock. That may be the cause of the delay. Sorry about that.

Doh! Can I just cancel the sanding pad and sandpaper pack so it'll ship tomorrow? It says the order is not editable for me. Also, for future work on the website it'd probably be good to have a little pop up or something for out of stock stuff causing a delay. Woodpeckers for example at checkout asks if you want to ship your items separately, or only when everything is in stock.

@wiily, I sent you the tracking number. Not sure why you don't see it in the website's order info.

Yes, that should be the case. Send me an email if you want me to cancel the sandpaper off the order and we'll get it out the door for you. And, the website is set up so that it synches inventory from our warehouse, so it should have said "out of stock". Again, very sorry for the delay.

And, we actually are about to launch a brand new website in the coming weeks. Complete redesign from scratch to make a lot of improvements for our customers. Along with the new website will come... more tool deals! Yay! :rocker:

Huh... Interesting... :headscrat

I wonder what the difference is between that one and the one on TN? The part number is different, 92604128020 vs 71360109630... If I search for that Grizzly part number I get a 3Ah 18V battery, not the SC kit. Maybe it's a mislisting or something? If not that's obviously an even better price. Maybe someone should try getting ahold of Grizzly's support to confirm before ordering a bunch of them I might just be suspicious because I also spend so much time in the Amazon Warehouse Deals thread and lately it's been nothing but mislistings.

Edit:
I definitely think that's just the battery. Look at the description:
"The Fein SuperCut AFSC 18 rechargeable Li-Ion battery uses 18 volt Lithium Ion technology for longer life and durability when you need it most, on the job. Use on AFSC 18 cordless SuperCut Family."

"Use only on AFSC 18
Lithium Ion technology with Fein high powered motor
Long lasting life
Use in conjunction with Fein Rapid Charger"

Sounds like a battery. You wouldn't use the AFSC 18 on itself.

I was like "what the..., how did they do that price?!" Ha!

Yes, the battery from the drill will work with the Supercut and vice versa. Same battery style, only difference is the capacity.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the heart attack. :D

I found a really cool video of someone using a corded Super Cut. It's in Russian, but I think it's intending to show how long the Fein long life blades last. The guy does some cool wood shaping with it to make decorative pillars for a cottage.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TD5nLdgdIok" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I posted this over on the drill thread as well since there's a lot of discussion of the SC there too.

A question for Shane, this promo price is till you have stock, right? Is their a date also, meaning if they do not move as quickly as the drills, will the promo on what is in stock be good till...e.g....Oct 31 or other such date?

I would really like to get one and hope there is stock and the promo is still good the 3rd or last week of Oct.

Thanks Shane I got your email. That's good enough for me, I'll have it in my hands in less than a week so that's all that matters.

I always try not to speculate about availability. We have no promoted this deal by email yet, but when we do my anticipation is that we will have a serious surge in orders.

We have much lower inventory of the cordless Supercut than the drills. So, at the same pace as the drills, the SC will be gone faster.

And, yes, once these are gone, this deal is over.

Again, not trying to pressure anyone into buying. Just sharing info so you can make a decision.

Well, looks like mine should be here Monday... Sadly missing the weekend. Atleast I'll get to play with it as soon as it arrives since I'll already have charged batteries with the drill!

Same here. Got the blade adapter and a drill in place of the Supercut. Toolnut came though really fast to take care of it and the drill is on it's way back (Thanks Shane and PJ ). Actually contemplated buying this drill as a backup to the one I bought last week but my sponsor (wife) arrived and that feeling quickly went away.:lol_hitti

BTW, new to the discussions but a long time lurker. The hot deals section has cost me plenty.

Sorry for the mess up, guys.

Shane, this is essentially the same as ordering the drill & SC separately; you get everything you would if buying them as 2 orders (and same price)?

Yes, it's a bundle with the drill and Supercut. Same price as buying separately. It just makes it easy for folks who want both to order.

Amazon has some of the Fein blade kits on a pretty big discount right now:

Fein 6-39-03-167-40-2 Wood Kit - Multimaster - 50.12$ - (30% Off)
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001F0RBHO/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Fein 6-39-03-167-41-1 Flooring Kit - Multimaster - 27.83$ - (54% Off)
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001F0RBHY/?tag=atomicindus08-20

These will need the adapter though to mount on the Super Cut.

Also, mine is sitting at the UPS center half a mile away... and it will stay there until Monday. I wish I could just go get it!

Alright, I have been agonizing over this deal since it was announced.

But I have some reservations, here they are:

1. Blade compatibility. Already spending $299 on this sucker, and then another $30 adapter on top of that to make it compatible with the multimaster and likely all the generic fitting blades like Bosch makes. It just is irking me Fein made two different arbors.

2. There is a MultiMaster 18v cordless (AFMM 18)! But, man, I have tried my google-fu and can't dredge up ANY comparisons between it and this Supercut! What the heck are the differences?? And why is the AFMM 18 a Euro only thing? Grrr! :wtf:

3. The MM AFMM 18 seems to have some advanced electronics in it. Namely, load sensing which then increases the power to the tool to maintain constant speed. Also, vibration and noise reduction. Supercut AFSC 18 have these too?

Don't get me wrong, I think this is an outstanding price, but for these reasons above, I'm still on the fence....

What say the hive?

I wish I knew more too about the differences it looks like the MM AFMM 18 isn't on sale in the USA either yet. Fein seems to bring new products here very slowly if at all. What did **** was how much the arbor to use MM blades costs 30 bucks is kinda crazy :(

Just got mine! I haven't gotten a good chance to play with it really at all, and unfortunately wont for tonight. I did open it though and turn it on with a fully charged 4AH battery from my drill. It is really loud! Way louder than I expected. It might be quiet for a multi tool but I've never been around one before and it surprised me. Other than that it feels real solid. The case is just as nice as the drill case, and comes with a little plastic storage box for storing your blades. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to do a full look at it and I'll post a lot of pictures or maybe even a video review.

Isn't this just a cordless version of the multimaster?

No, the Supercut is the bigger brother of the Multimaster. More powerful, faster cut, quieter, etc. Designed more for professionals.

AND....

This deal is getting a little sweeter! We're going to toss in two free additional 18V batteries for anyone who orders one. Already placed an order? Nooooo problem. We'll be shipping you two free batteries in the coming days.

The two additional free batteries will appear when you add the AFSC to your shopping cart.

Enjoy!

No. I have corded versions of both. The old MM was 150W of power. Newer MM are 250W which keeps it above the competition. FSC are 400W and oscillate over a wider angle. They're badass.

I welded a piece of carbide tipped sawzall blade to a worn out supercut blade and have used it to plow through concrete stucco with steel lath inside.

That is sweet - thanks

After ordering 2 drills and 1 supercut, it is nice to get a freebee after the fact :)
