I just placed an order for one from amazon supply, along with a couple extra blades. I have a prime account for free 2 day shipping, and they are giving me an estimated time of May 30 or 31, even though on the site it says ships in 1-2 months.

I called and asked why it shows a shipping charge and discovered that it shows it but I was not charged, so the total was the tool + Tax :( She said they are working on the site so it does not show the shipping at check out!

Two minutes later:

"Usually ships in 1 to 2 months"

Interesting, the price remains $78.44. I assumed the price went up when they went out of stock. Apparently not! You can still get them on the cheap, but may have to wait a couple weeks.

Order away!

I got a shipping notification email from CPO Outlets. But the FedEx tracking number is invalid, and the CPO Outlets webpage is showing it as Not Shipped.

I ordered one of these, just noticed the Blades are kinda up there in cost.

Any suggestions on where to buy blades and what brands?

Anybody used the Harbor Freight blades?

I personally haven't heard good things about HF blades. Most of the main brands like Dremel and Bosch either have universal blades or converters to fit their blades on the various brands. Then there are alternatives like Imperial blades who make well regarded blades too. The benefit of Dremel and Bosch blades are you can easily get them at HD or Lowes.

HF blades do not last as long as brand names, and all of those are not created equal either. Personally I have a mix of HF, Fein, Imperial, & Bosch blades. Different ones for different purposes.

HF blades definitely do have their place though. You get about the same cost per cut out of HF as you do Fein or Bosch.

Mine arrived as well. Haven't used it on anything yet, but just from playing around for a bit tonight I'd say it was a good purchase!

The only downside to any of the oscillating tools is that they are not a everyday tool. I use mine only when no other tool will work. If used everyday the blade cost will eat you out if house and home.

I've used mine a decent amount since I got it. For basically any plunge cut, I use my oscillating tool first, but especially great for cutting outlet boxes in drywall. Agreed about the expensive blades though.

How does this compare to the Dremel version of these multi tools?
