Feit Electric Dimmer Electrical Issue

Hi All,
I was trying to install a Feit Dimmer switch from Costco we purchased in the house last night but could not get this thing to install properly.
I was wondering if anyone on here had any electrical knowledge?

The Wall has 2 white wires, 2 black wires and 1 red wire. There is a second switch that also controls the wires. I cannot figure out which one would be the hot here - and am wondering where I would put the wires into the back of this connection box? I have tried every combination possible to no avail. The closet I got was I could get the dimmer switch to work but then the 2nd switch would not work.

Two Whites into AC-N, I put the Red Wire into AC Load and then the 2 black wires into AC-Load. Do I need to be checking it with a multimeter? I'm befuddled at why there is a red and 2 black wires.

Thanks for your help!
Jason

Whenever I install a 3-way switch, I end up having to open up both switch boxes so I can properly identify the wires. There are several ways the circuit can be setup

You need to know

  1. Which wire is the 'line' (ac current from the breaker)
  2. Which wire is the 'load' (runs directly to the light)
  3. Which wire is the traveler (is present in both boxes)

Just hook it up the same as the old switch. No need to make it complicated. If the old switch was 3 way then you will need a three way switch.
